Visit Visa
Tourist & Visitor Visa Applications In London
This category is for people who are seeking to enter the UK for a temporary purpose, such as a tourist, to visit family or friends, to carry out business activities, etc. Not everyone requires this visa before coming to the UK. It depends on the country of which you are a national.
On the 24th April 2015, there were significant changes to the Immigration Rules affecting Visitor Visas for the UK. The changes seek to increase flexibility in the system, specifically with regard to the activities visitors can undertake in the UK. As part of these changes the number of visas in the visitor route, has been reduced from 15 to 4. Our UK Visitors Visa lawyers in London can provide detailed assistance for a successful application.
The 4 new routes of visitor visa which depend on the purpose of the visit are:
1. Visitor (standard)
This consolidates the previous: general, business, child, sport, entertainer, visitors for private medical treatment, visitors under the Approved Destination Status (ADS) Agreement with China, prospective entrepreneur; and visitors undertaking clinical attachments – the Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) test and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE); and for those entering to carry out research as an academic.
People applying under this route must prove to the Immigration authorities that they intend to leave the UK at the end of their visit and have enough money to support themselves in the UK. Visitors are not allowed to work in the UK or switch into other immigration categories. People applying under this route can come to the UK for up to six months (there are a number of exceptions for some academics, visitors for medical treatment and visitors under the Approved Destination Status Agreement (ADS Agreement).
2. Visitor for marriage or civil partnerships
This route is for people who would like to have their wedding or civil partnership ceremony in the UK and do not intend to live in the UK afterward. This visa is given for a maximum of six months and visitors under this route must have prior entry clearance for this purpose.
3. Visitor for permitted paid engagement
This route is for academics, qualified lawyers, professional artists and sportspersons who intend to travel to the UK to carry out prearranged work in the area of their expertise and occupation overseas. They are permitted to receive payment for their work. The maximum length of visa is 1 month.
4.Transit visitor
People from certain countries are required to have a visa to pass through the UK on their way to another country. Transit Visitor Visa is issued to people who are going to be in the UK for less than 48 hours before they continue their onward journey to their destination country.
